E46 Boot

So Earlier today I pressed the key to open the boot and nothing happened, moved slightly closer and pressed again and still nothing lol I panicked and pressed to open the doors and it worked *whew* so I went inside and pressed the boot release button and it still didn't open, The key did the trick but I can't live like that

Any suggestions what to fix or check? I went through some threads and they were mostly dead ends to the solution.
