Hi guys
The cars an F30 320i LCI Automatic ,
So I haven't replaced the tires as yet on this car as per my previous post, Will be doing so in the coming week , current tires are not worn out but nearing that point .
Anyway .
So last week BMW replaced the gearbox/transmission on our F30 with a new unit . The original transmission wasn't taking gear , kept going back into park etc It seems to be working really well now , I noticed better smoother gear changes and overall behavior with no noises like the previous one.
We have done less then 250km on the car now since the new gearbox has been fitted .
Now with regards to driving it , we haven't done any harsh take offs , accelerations, high speed drives or anything of that sort . For the next 2000km I said that we should rather just baby the car. Not that we drive our cars in that way anyway .
Something that I have noticed today as this evening was the first time that I took the car (with the new gearbox) up to 120km/h on the N2 not any faster , (previous to that the. highest its been driven was of around 100km/h on the new gearbox )
When lifting my foot off the pedal , allowing the car to coast , I noticed an ever so slight I mean really soft and slight noise , sort of like a pulsating noise that went brmm brmm brmm brmm once the cars speed dropped to 100 it went away.
The noise is not loud , but it is there , I don't know if im imagining it but I can hear it , it sounds like a vibration noise but I don't know . I cant say it makes the noise at higher speeds because I havnt taken it up to anything higher then 120.
Below 100 there is no noise when coasting .
What Could it be? I don't remember it having this noise before . I know if I take it to the dealer they are not going to hear it , its so subtle . But its there , the roads were quiet so I could hear everything clearly .
Could it be the diff? or Prop shaft not balanced or fitted correctly, or Could the wheels be causing this noise?
I dont hear the noise when accelerating so im not sure
Any advice or thoughts?
Thanks guys
